Because all pictures of me are taken by me at arms length. I have this shot, including part of my hand dozens of times.
The girls and I went out to lunch on Wednesday. Bella has been begging to go to Olive Garden for months now. She had no school, so we went. The waiter was one of the nicest I have ever had. Bella told him that she and I were on a date and he played along the whole time. She felt very grown up and very special. Also, he brought her extra chocolates at the end, so she of course, wants to go back.
We had parent/teacher conferences this week. They went really well, both kids doing great. Bella would like her teacher to move grades along with her. She really really loves kindergarten and has such a fun time there. I am relieved, I love it when they start out on the right foot. Jack is choosing his own spelling words now. The teacher has a policy if the ace her pre-test, they can collaborate on their own list. He contributed benediction, itinerary, education, and psychic. All the other words and equally random. But I like his teacher realizing that if they own it-they are more likely to succeed.
Ever since I cut my hair, Sophie refers to all hair as pretty. That's what she is saying in this picture. "Oooh, pretty. Pretty!" She's not sure if she's happy about it.
And she refers to all rubber bands, barrettes, and clips as pretty as she tears them out. I'd like to believe she just wants to see how pretty her accessories are. You see, if I have to think that she is doing this because she prefers her hair to hang in her eyes, or likes to pull out great chunks of it along with her "pretties", well, I may just go nutty. 
This is her first ponytail, a popular do around here. She left it in for about four hours. I think that may have been a record.
